How to apply for the Roger Begy Memorial Trust Grant Scheme
The Roger Begy Memorial Trust is committed to supporting young people across Rutland. One of the ways we can do this is through our The Roger Begy Memorial Trust Grant Scheme.
Who can apply?
- Individuals seeking to develop their own future in education, sport or the arts
Is my project eligible?
In brief, your project should:
- Require funding of up to £500;
- Have a clear timescale;
- Be based in Rutland;
- Benefit the citizens of Rutland.
I am an individual, what can I apply for?
Anything that will help you to develop in a field which you excel and will benefit Rutland, but which you would find it otherwise difficult to finance, such as:
- Help with the purchase of equipment;
- The purchase of reference;
- Attendance at a course, masterclass or summer school
- Travel to representative events etc
When will I receive the money?
- Payment will be negotiated with the applicant on a case-by-case basis;
- Payment can usually be flexible, and could include an advance payment to cover initial costs subject to evidence that the project has started;
- Final payment will normally be made on completion of the project, subject to submission of evaluation and final accounts.

How do I apply?
- Complete the appropriate application form, depending on whether it is an individual or group application;

- We may ask you to discuss you project or initiative with us which will be a brief telephone or face-to-face interview.
Is there anything I can’t apply for?
We are unable to fund:
- Projects that promote religious or political beliefs
- Competitive events
- Core organisational costs for groups, e.g. rent, salaries
- Projects that have already started or taken place
- Capital developments i.e. improvements to offices or workspaces
- Commercial profit making organisations
- Fundraising activities
- Groups and organisations run by local authorities
- Projects that have not considered how to be accessible and include people from different backgrounds
How will you assess our application?
Our judging criteria for groups will include:
- Secure project plan;
- Previous track record of excellence;
- Benefit to the people of Rutland;
- Ability of people to learn or try something new;
- Impact on community inclusion;
- Any long term impact on individuals or communities;
- Priority for new initiatives;
- The necessary skills and financial control being in place;
- Funding from other sources in place or applied for if appropriate.
When will I receive the money?
